TEL AVIV, May 31. /TASS/. The Israeli military has officially confirmed that Mohammad Sinwar, leader of Hamas’ military wing, was eliminated in the Gaza Strip.
According to an army statement, he was killed in a targeted operation "in a command and control compound established inside underground infrastructure beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis."
Sinwar was present there when a strike targeted the facility, the Israeli military added.
The Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) carried out the operation on May 13. Mohammad Sabaneh, commander of Hamas' Rafah Brigade, and Mahdi Quara, commander of Hamas' South Khan Yunis Battalion, were also eliminated in the strike.
According to the Israeli army, "prior to and during the strike, measures were taken to minimize the risk of civilian harm.".
