Israeli defense minister orders to prevent ship with activist Greta Thunberg reach Gaza

The Madleen aid ship set sail from Sicily on June 1, carrying humanitarian assistance for the Gaza Strip

TEL AVIV, June 8. /TASS/. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Kaz has ordered the country’s military to take any measures not to let the Madleen aid ship with 12 pro-Palestinian activists on board, including Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, reach Gaza’s coast.

"I have instructed the IDF to act so that the Madleen does not reach Gaza. To the antisemitic Greta and her friends, I say clearly: You should turn back, because you will not reach Gaza," he wrote on his X page.

"The State of Israel will not allow anyone to violate the naval blockade on Gaza, the primary purpose of which is to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hamas, a murderous terror organization that holds our hostages and commits war crimes," he warned.

The Madleen, which is part of the Freedom Flotilla coalition, set sail from Sicily on June 1, carrying humanitarian assistance for the Gaza Strip. Its cargo includes baby food, diapers, flour, rice, water filters, hygiene items, and medical equipment, The Jerusalem Post reported earlier. The vessel is expected to reach Eastern Mediterranean within a week.
